Session 1 - Brazil Beyond the Pre-Salt: Unlocking New Frontiers Exploration for Long-Term Energy Security

Chairs: Anna Eliza Svartman, Petrobras e Frederico Miranda, ABGP

The Pre-Salt has established Brazil as one of the world’s leading petroleum provinces, delivering significant contributions to national development and global energy supply. However, sustaining long-term energy security and reserve replacement requires looking beyond existing producing areas toward the next generation of exploration opportunities.
This session will examine the strategic importance of frontier exploration, including the Equatorial Margin, underexplored offshore basins, and emerging geological plays. Discussions will address the technological, environmental, regulatory, and economic challenges associated with transforming prospective resources into future reserves. The session will highlight how exploration remains a critical pillar for energy security, economic growth, and sustainable development in an evolving global energy landscape.

Session 2. From Potential to Prosperity: Unlocking Brazil's Next Wave of Offshore Exploration

Chairs: Anna Eliza Svartman, Petrobras e Frederico Miranda, ABGP

Brazil possesses one of the world’s most attractive offshore exploration portfolios, supported by world-class geology, proven petroleum systems, and decades of technological innovation. Despite this potential, exploration activity has slowed in recent years, with fewer exploratory wells and fewer commercial discoveries being declared.

This session will explore the factors influencing the competitiveness of Brazil’s offshore sector, including environmental licensing, regulatory frameworks, fiscal policies, investment attractiveness, and access to exploration capital. Industry leaders, regulators, and investors will discuss pathways to accelerate exploration activity, reduce uncertainty, and unlock the next generation of offshore discoveries that will sustain future production and economic growth.

Session 3. Unlocking Brazilian Resources Efficiently: Innovation, Regulation and Recovery Optimization

Chairs: Anna Eliza Svartman, Petrobras e Frederico Miranda, ABGP

As Brazil’s producing assets mature and capital efficiency becomes increasingly important, maximizing resource recovery has emerged as one of the industry’s greatest opportunities. Significant value remains trapped in discovered resources that can be unlocked through innovation, advanced reservoir management, and enabling regulatory frameworks.

This session will focus on technologies and strategies that improve recovery factors, optimize field development, and extend asset life cycles. Topics will include digital reservoirs, enhanced recovery methods, integrated reservoir management, mature field revitalization, and regulatory mechanisms that encourage innovation and efficient resource utilization. The session will demonstrate how technology and policy can work together to maximize the value of Brazil’s existing resource base.

Session 4. Brazil's Competitive Advantage & Low-Carbon Petroleum

Chairs: Anna Eliza Svartman, Petrobras e Frederico Miranda, ABGP

As the global energy industry advances toward lower-carbon solutions, Brazil holds a unique competitive position. Combining highly productive offshore reservoirs, operational excellence, and one of the world’s cleanest energy matrices, Brazil is well positioned to become a global leader in low-carbon petroleum production.

This session will explore how technology, operational efficiency, emissions reduction initiatives, carbon management, and sustainable development practices can strengthen the competitiveness of Brazilian petroleum in a carbon-constrained world. Discussions will address how the industry can balance energy security, economic development, and climate objectives while leveraging Brazil’s natural advantages to create long-term value.o maximize the value of Brazil’s existing resource base.
